21ème Panzer Division / 21st Panzer Division

Dans le cadre de la préparation de la microcampagne "Kampfgruppe von Luck" pour la règle Chain of Command des Too Fat Lardies, j'ai peint quelques blindés allemands atypiques utilisés par cette unité. La 21e Panzer a participé à tous les combats de l'Afrikakorps d'abord sous le nom de 5e Division Légère avant de prendre son appellation courante : elle a par conséquent été détruite lors de la reddition de la PanzerArmee Afrika à Tunis en mai 1943. C'est donc une division reconstituée qui va se battre en Normandie dès le 6 juin (la microcampagne en question retrace l'offensive improvisée du Major Von Luck contre les paras de le 6e Airborne entre l'Orne et le canal de l'Orne dans la foulée des débarquements).

As part of the preparation of the "Kampfgruppe von Luck" microcampaign for the Too Fat Lardies Chain of Command rule, I painted some atypical German armor used by this unit. The 21st Panzer took part in evey battle of the Afrikakorps,  first as the 5th Light Division before taking its current name: it was therefore destroyed during the surrender of the PanzerArmee Afrika in Tunis in May 1943. It is consequently a reconstituted division which will fight in Normandy from June 6 (the micro-campaign in question retraces the improvised offensive of Major Von Luck against the paratroopers of the 6th Airborne between the Orne and the Orne canal in the wake of the D-Day landings).

Dans ses rangs se trouve alors un personnage hors du commun, le Major Alfred Becker, qui se spécialisa tout au long de la guerre dans la reconversion des nombreux véhicules britanniques et français capturés lors de la campagne de France en 1940. En particulier, il fut l’auteur l’installation de l’obusier lourd SiG 33 de 150mm sur un tracteur tracteur Lorraine (désignation officielle 15cm SFH13 auf Lorraine Sclepper). Lent (22km/h), faiblement blindé (14mm au maximum sur l’avant de la superstructure) et d’un faible rayon d’action (120 km), il a une puissance de feu dévastatrice avec sa pièce de 150mm.

In its ranks there was then an extraordinary character, Major Alfred Becker, who specialized throughout the war in the conversion of the many British and French vehicles captured during the French campaign in 1940. In particular, he was the author the installation of the SiG 33 150mm heavy howitzer on a Lorraine tractor tractor (official designation 15cm SFH13 auf Lorraine Sclepper). Slow (22km/h), lightly armored (14mm maximum on the front of the superstructure) and with a short range (120 km), it has devastating firepower with its 150mm piece.

pour faire des transports de troupes blindés équivalents du SPW SdKfz251/1 avec les seconds, et des automoteurs antichar dotés d’un Pak 40 de 75mm avec les premiers. Tous ces matériels sont déployés en nombrte au sein de la 21^e Panzer lors dxe la bataille de Normandie.

to make armored personnel carriers equivalent to the SPW SdKfz251/1 with the latter, and anti-tank self-propelled guns with a 75mm Pak 40 with the former. All these materials are deployed in large numbers within the 21st Panzer during the Battle of Normandy.

SPW SOMUA MCG

Là aussi du STL de Thingyverse, le modèle étant rare et difficile à trouver (depuis j’ai trouvé, voir plus bas). J’y ai ajouté 2 figurines métal et bricolé un masque avec MG 42 .

Again from the Thingyverse STL, the model being rare and difficult to find (since I found, see below). I added 2 metal figurines and kitbashed a shield for an MG42 from the bits box

Pak40 auf Unic P107

Cette fois, c’est toujours de l’impression 3D, mais réalisée par un pro (Mad Bob Miniatures). Le modèle se compose de la caisse, du canon, des roues et des chenilles qui s’assemblent de façon très satisfaisante. J’ai peuplé tout ça avec des figurines PSC tirées de ma boîte à rabiot et issues du kit Marder III / Pz 38(t) de cette marque. Le conducteur est en fait un chef de pîèce auquel j’ai supprimé sa chaise à grand coups de cutter comme vous pouvez le voir sur l'image ci dessous…

This time, it's still 3D printing, but made by a pro (Mad Bob Miniatures). The model consists of the hull, barrel, wheels and tracks which fit together very well. I populated all of this with PSC miniatures taken from my bits box and from the Marder III / Pz 38(t) kit of this very brand. The driver is actually a vehicle commander whose chair I removed with a cutter as you can see in the image below...
